I want to ask you a question! How do you influence someone to
take some action on something?
I am sure you have noticed that "Marketing" is going on around us at a much
higher rate than ever before. It's so much in your face that you
almost become "numb" to it. This is happening to all of us, we are
bombarded all the time it seems with marketing material and messages.
I briefly decided to try to
count many of the methods out there that are taking away our time and money
every day.... It's almost makes you breathless to count the ways. Here
goes...
Phone
book ads like the Yellow pages
Daily
and weekend Newspaper and magazine ads
Postcards, catalogs, and direct mail in your home mail and PO. boxes
Long
Radio pitches usually longer than the flow of your favorite songs
TV
commercials - about 20 minutes worth per hour now
Hundreds of storefronts, "mega" malls, and strip malls
Highway billboards by the thousands
Door
hanger circulars hung on your doorknob
Signs
on stop signs, telephone poles and on and off ramps of freeways
Legitimate email messages
Spam
email, which is unwanted junk usually
Buses
and vehicles with signs
Bus
Stop Benches with signs
And I am sure there are many,
many more..
Well you get the idea, your brain gets bombarded so much you go "numb"
with all these marketing "look here", "buy me", listen to this" messages.
We go into a defense mode, and just rebel, you can't blame us, it really
gets annoying!
So the question is, how can you, as an honest ethical online merchant or
affiliate marketer, get around this annoying barrier wall to really help
people who are being bombarded so much?
We know for sure that
you can NOT help by being unbearable by forcing even more advertising on
someone or by being devious and resorting to underhanded tricks. You might
get their attention just for a moment you may even get a customer or two,
but it will not go as planned for you in the long run.
Here is the
solution to your problem:
It's imperative you build credibility through your name and your business as
an expert willing to help in your field or "niche" market. On top of that,
you must ease your prospect's concerns and fears about doing business with
you.
This will help them not only get to know you and build trust in you, but
they will look forward to hearing what you have to say in the future too.
I can hear you now... But how can I do this? ahhh, I thought you'd
never ask. Ok, lets continue...
Think for a moment, what makes
someone like another person, usually its a combination of things, so
I will break it down for you...At the core it's...Trust!
Granted, trust is something you
earn, so how do we build a prospects trust in you and your business faster?
Shhh...here is a secret that has worked for me..
I have been writing articles of value and allowing them to be posted on to
other web sites. Articles that really help people are the key.
Here's what I mean, take a look at a newspaper ad or magazine ad, now come
back here. Which do you feel you trust more? The ads or this
article (or even the articles in the newspaper or magazines)?
I am thinking, that if you are
like me, a normal person, you
will choose the articles hands down. Why? Because the reports or
articles don't try to "sell" you anything. Instead, they hand out useful
information for educational or helpful purposes.
It's very subtle but through
years of conditioning this is true, we tend to trust articles that are in
print much more than a "sales pitch".
So if you have a web site, build your opt-in list with content rich articles
that interest your readers and you will build the very important trust and
in time credibility too. Allow them to be posted on other sites with a
box (like below) and shortly you will see your sales increase as you will
have earned trust and credibly.
The most important thing is
come from an attitude of really wanting to help people,
especially if you have passion for your product,
it will show.
